History of the Firm
For over 100 years the firm of Sylvester Mackett has played a leading role in the business and social life of Trowbridge. The links today with the local community are as strong as they were when Frederick Sylvester founded the practice in 1894.
For many years the Sylvester family were local doctors', but Frederick Sylvester broke with that tradition and became a solicitor opening his first office in Wicker Hill, Trowbridge. He was also County Coroner and District Registrar. When William Frederick Mackett joined the practice shortly after the First World War, the firm ran the Returning Office for local elections.
Currently there are seven working partners. All of them in various ways maintain strong links with the community which stretch far beyond the limits of office hours.
With nearly 40 staff, one of the strengths of the firm is that all its expertise is under one roof. Whatever the problem, there is someone in the practice who can help you. Each member of the firm will give you the full benefit of his or her expertise and will be able to enlist the help of colleagues with experience in a wide range of legal fields to offer you a comprehensive service.
Our pleasant town centre offices at Castle House were originally the Sylvester family home and retain a reassuringly friendly atmosphere in the heart of the business centre of Trowbridge, opposite the main entrance to the Shires Shopping Centre.
The partners and staff are all here to help you in any way they can. You can be assured that at Sylvester Mackett we have not forgotten the tradition of courtesy and understanding.
